After an inspiring school visit from a Professor on Engineering in Year 11, Annette elected to study Mining Engineering. Within her second year of study Annette took on an ambassador role with UNSW talking to school students about careers in Engineering and also became a committee member with Sydney Women in Engineering. After 3 summer internships, Annette joined BHP Billiton as a Graduate Engineer in the Bowen Basin.
In 2017 Annette joined GEMCO on Groote Eylandt in her current role of Mine Design Engineer, delivering multi-million dollar continuous improvement and productivity initiatives and informally mentoring 3 female colleagues since she commenced.
Annette continues her ambassador and volunteering, serving as a committee member Seagrass Early Learning Management Committee which looks after the Groote Eylandte Child Care Centre, is a GEMCO Diversity & Inclusion Committee member and currently fulfils a communications role with the Women in Mining
