Award Sponsor

Georgia Bass

In 2016, Georgia graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining and Geotechnical) with first class honours. She was a Queensland Government Supporting Women scholarship recipient and a Rio Tinto Coal Australia scholarship winner.
In January 2017, Georgia joined GEMCO’s graduate program and has since held numerous operational and technical roles. She has informally encouraged and mentored women by establishing and maintaining rapport, teaching technical skills and providing positive feedback.
In 2019, Georgia gained her Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency. She is currently a Short-Term Mine Scheduling
Engineer and the Production Planning team’s elected Health and Safety Representative. Georgia assisted with the 2019 James Cook University career fair and wrote an article about a day in the life of a grad, which features on the gradaustralia website. She hopes those interactions have encouraged more women to consider resource industry careers.
Georgia has been involved in community service events, such as the St Vincent de Paul Society, Clean Up Australia Day, and
Edmund Rice Camps. She is a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award recipient.
