Linda is an advocate for women in the resources industry and has pioneered the progression of females in the Australian Bauxite industry over the last 12 years.
Whilst employed as Production Manager in Weipa for Rio Tinto, Linda launched an Inclusion and Diversity Network to cover the Western Cape region where she served as President. Part of this program saw Linda facilitate and lead a site-wide mentoring program and deliver specific class lessons focussing on industry applications of the current curriculum (STEM) at the Western Cape College and Aurukun School, supporting school based traineeships focussing on diversity candidates, mentoring of year 11/12 females seeking career opportunities as well as providing industry tours for teachers so they better understand the full business and the opportunities that exist.
In the last 18 months, the Weipa Inclusion and Diversity network arranged a mentoring program where 33 employees (key statistics 60% female participation, 6% indigenous participation) were matched with senior leaders from across Rio Tinto and a formal program was running over 9 months was designed to include a number of events including speed networking, MBIT, managing your development, Ted Talks and monthly catch ups between mentee and mentor.
Upon taking up the role as General Manager of Gove Operations, Linda launched the very successful program onto this site.
