Yvette is a Nhulunbuy-based committee member who joined the WiR Committee in December 2024, working as a Senior Environmental Scientist with Rio Tinto's Gove Closure team. Yvette is in her final semester of a Master of Environmental Management with CDU. Yvette brings 20+ years of experience from roles across the agricultural and mining sectors in Queensland and the Northern Territory, relocating to Nhulunbuy in 2010. Joining the Gove Closure team in 2020, Yvette provides technical guidance and develops and implements innovative practices to achieve closure outcomes. She strongly advocates inclusion, demonstrating that non-linear career paths, building on experience and diversification, can pave the way for successful roles in STEM. Her commitment to diversity includes championing inclusion, calling out biases, and showing that environmental advocacy can align with resource-sector roles.
